Dahl is the main character of Beyond Algo. She, along with her twin sister Azur, was created by Wren to serve as a Protector of Algo. She has made the palmaforming of the artificial planet Palm II the focus of her duties, and in the few short years since she joined the project, she has become its director. Aside from Wren himself, Dahl is Algo's foremost expert in the field of biotechnology. She was the head of her class at Piata West Academy, where she co-majored in biology and ecology. She is currently in an on-again, off-again relationship with her colleague and dear friend, Erol Grant, but the strains of Dahl's mission and responsibilities, as well as Erol's own, have prevented the relationship from developing further. Dahl has a very strained relationship with Wren, as she sometimes doubts the morality of creating life from artificial means -- the very process which Wren used to create Dahl.
